Finding and prospecting of groundwater deposits

Useful ground water storage means it’s quantity, which can be obtained at deposit (plot) by means of geologically and technically grounded water intake facilities at the set rate and conditions of operation, water quality, answering the demands of it’s target use pending the estimated term of water consumption with a glance to nature conservation demands.

Expected reserves are the quantity of ground water of particular quality and purpose, which can be obtained in the range of hydrogeological region, basin or administrative district and reflects potentiality of water usage.

Operational storages and expected reserves of ground water are estimated and taken stock in stere to day. In industrial water there is determined the quantity of general and associated components (in tonne), which can be obtained at a deposit for estimated term of it’s development nonmetering the loss in time of water processing.

Operational storages are counted and stocktaken separately by each type of ground water (potable, technical, medical mineral, industrial) and by each area of their possible industrial use by the information of hydrogeological searching-estimate and prospecting work carried out at the deposits or by the experience of production activity of operating water intake facilities at the exposed, under development or developed deposits.

By the degree of the study of conditions of quality and quantity of ground water generation, conditions of the operation and qualification of the deposits for their further geological study or development the operational storages are divided into separate categories.

Operational storages of ground water are divided into:

  • Developed – category A
  • Explored – category B
  • Preliminary estimated – category C1
  • Exposed – category C2

Expected reserves of ground water to the degree of validity are refered to the P-category.

Industrial development of ground water deposits is permited at the storages of A or B-categories, but the test-industrial development – at the storages of C1-category by the resolution of mineral storages public examination.
